## Notes Tenosynovitis is a condition where the sheath of the tendon sheath pulls against the [[pulleys]]. The *A2* and *A4* pulleys are what keep the tendon and tendon sheath close to the finger bones. ## Identifying - May have pain during passive extension; pulley injuries do not cause this - Sometimes pain in open hand position; less likely with pulley injuries - Slow to progress from overuse; pulley injuries are usually sudden - Sometimes has pain in the forearm; not common in pulley injuries ## Causes - Frequent crimping - Campus boarding ## Management - Gentle compression using flexible tape (not climbers tape) ## Rehab - 2/10 on the pain scale - Hangboard - 30 seconds on, 30 seconds off; 6-10 sets - Open-hand farmer carries - 10-15 seconds on, 60-90 seconds rest; 4-6 sets - Low intensity, high volume climbing - No bouldering or board climbing ## References - [Finger Flexor Tenosynovitis - Hooper's Beta](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=McVyToh_feU) - [PIP Synovitis and Tenosynovitis - bossclimbs](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WILIjEcTnhM)
