## Notes Based on https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/why-open-energy-depends-fair-access-enode-io-w000f/ and the [[EU Data Act]], I have a few opinions, concerns, and feelings about its imminent adoption. ## Response I'm excited about the downstream possibilities of EU Data Act and openness can provide for us in the future in our fight against climate change. I also felt cautious because retail consumer energy use data could be invasive or weaponized with the wrong intentions. Fortunately, I see that item 34 in the EU Data Act at least allows users to be informed that their energy use data will be available. Additionally it allows users to access their own data at the cost of needing legal justification. Regardless, I'm excited about item 40 in the EU Data Act because it allows start ups, small enterprises, and medium enterprises to compete with larger companies who have cornered the market.
